For my 25th birthday, I wanted to do something different – and did we ever!
Kaitlin and I drove up to Chicago on a Thursday afternoon to attend a Deadmau5 concert at the Aragon Ballroom. This venue is amazing, and this photo doesn’t do justice to once Deadmau5 took over. He brought his cube with a total height of 18.7′ and weight of 10,500 pounds – the visual effects he had going on for the show were absolutely stunning.
We had decided earlier that night while grabbing Panera before the concert that we were going to drive out to Six Flags Chicago the next morning and spend the day riding roller coasters and spend the entire day in bliss. It was a pretty successful day – thankfully with minimal nauseousness and minimal lines. My family drove up to Six Flags Chicago a lot while I was growing up, and I will say that it has changed a little since I was young, but mostly, I think it was because as a child, you don’t pay attention to as many things – like cleanliness.
We arrived back home in Indianapolis at a decent time, and I stopped by the neighbors’ house to celebrate a birthday and Cino De Mayo – but quickly ended up back at home because I knew I had to get up early the next day for the Indy Mini (half marathon race).
I’m so happy that I chose to do three things that really represented who I am and what I love doing. It definitely felt like a “me” holiday this year instead of being my normal people-pleasing self and doing what everyone else wants me to do.
